CHILD OF THE EARTH SHAKING IT AND SHAKING IT GOOD
UNDERNEATH THE PRETTY SPARKLING SHINY DISCO BALL

I like the way you dance!

I like the way you dance
coming right towards me!

Here you come! I’m liking it!

Wow! Look at you go!
What’s that strange noise? *

Watch out, baby! Here I come! **

* That strange noise is most likely the sound of the Jerusalem Cricket. It produces this sound by rubbing its spiny legs against
its body in a way that is referred to as ‘drumming.’ To the untrained eye, it would almost appear that the insect is ‘dancing’.
The Jerusalem Cricket, also referred to as the ‘Potato Bug’ or ‘Niña De La Tierra’ isn’t poisonous as it possesses no poisonous
glands, but its jaws can inflict a painful bite. It spends most of its life underground–using its large humanoid head to assist
its jaws in digging through soil and plant material. How lucky of you to be able to witness the behavior of the Niña De La Tierra
above ground! A sighting of such an increaingly reluctant surface dweller is an experience to be treasured forever.

FYI: It is undoubtedly the humanoid head that made you mistake this cricket for a pretty young woman with strawberry blond
hair and a winsome smile who likes to dance. Although you were wrong about the blond part, the Jerusalem Cricket probably
enjoyed showing off for you.

** Watch out for the jaws.
