A Dying Star
“No-one ever leaves a star.
That's what makes one a star.”
-Norma Desmond, Sunset Blvd. 1950
She had a face
like no-one
A black mark: the moon has dimmed
And the house is empty except
for a thousand repeated faces;
Waiting, as time stood still,
for the star to fall.
Shh, I think I hear something
Notes on my first thunderstorm as a poet
Characters
my dead grandmother
God
me
Flashback
my father’s childhood bed
Sleep. It is just God bowling.
