From Dirt

In birth, nucleotides paint a face
in spirals on a canvas of flesh
Earthy, dirty proteins are woven
together at conception –
The concept
of a portal,
a person,
a parasite.

In life, the soft system of synthesis
observes everything,
holds composure accountable
running through adrenaline jungles
when in trouble
hurting
hunting

In fear, the mirror looks back.
The lump of cellular motion
is either friend or enemy
depending on obedience
to the self-indulgent,
dizzy and telluric object.

In death, phosphates crumble and fall
sprinkling salt on thin rusty marrow.
The mesh falls apart and disintegrates
into primordial goo
seeps into earthy dirt
nourishing oblivion.
